IN MEMORY OF NAOMI TAYLOR CASEY

On Nov. 21, 1998, OCWI lost a legend, Naomi Taylor Casey.
OCWI was dear to her heart, and even when she became feeble, she remained a loyal supporter and active member.
President from January, 1979, to July, 1981, she served the club in numerous capacities. I met her at my first writer's workshop in the summer of 1979. Naomi befriended me and became my teacher/mentor. She offered a broad shoulder when those rejections filled my mailbox. She guided many new writers toward the road to publication, especially through her classes at St. Luke's. In 1984, through her gentle persuasion, I agreed to serve as president of OCWI. Naomi was also a key player in OWFI and encoraged OCWI members to join. Both OCWI and OWFI granted Naomi Taylor Casey Honorary Life Memberships. She will be missed.
